Tomorrow's Weather Warp + Weft

2024. 02. 27 - 2024. 03. 24

Gallery SIL[室]

The 'Tomorrow's Weather Warp+Weft' group is a small gathering within the "Today’s Weather Warp+Weft" group. The group is an exhibition collective that expresses fiber and sculptural art through weaving, employing a hand-weaving technique where warp and weft intersect to create fabric. Weaving is an integral part of fiber craft and textile design, a craft as old as humanity itself. Despite its long history, weaving remains lesser-known as other crafts and cultural arts. In response, a collective of weaving-based artists has come together to establish "Today's Weather Warp+Weft", aiming to promote its unique domain and artistic qualities.

The works are based on the textile craft technique of weaving, which involves the intersection of warp and weft. To include stories that many people can relate to, the collective reflects a variety of materials, forms, and fabric structures. In this exhibition, the artists’ unique technique can be appreciated in various ways through the medium of chair sculptures. By using a familiar item such as a simply structured chair commonly found in everyday life, the artists showcase the field of weaving, which is actually closely intertwined with life, in its various aspects as a part of craftsmanship. This creates an opportunity for people to be charmed by the field of weaving
