I enjoy the new transformations of clay turning into pottery, but I am afraid of the rapidly changing times. I want to create works that, like a grandmother’s tale starting with ‘Once upon a time’, tell familiar yet unfamiliar, fun yet complex stories of life in an entertaining and witty way.
I enjoy creating various things by hand and exploring different materials without being too picky. That's how I came across clay. After going through the grand process of creating and firing the pieces in a kiln, the ceramics emerged in a new form. Since then, I have had a strong desire to study the mysterious stories behind this work. I've been captivated by the charm of ceramics, which constantly surprises me with its new expressions and this might be the reason why I haven't been able to pull myself away from it.
The combination of ceramics and thread represents a new form of expression among the ceramics I have collected so far. Although I am not yet sure of the limits of connecting different media, I hope that one day I will become someone who can spend half a day talking about the languages of ceramics I have discovered.

Things that have endured through many years carry numerous stories, just like how people who have lived long lives can endlessly unravel tales once they start talking. As time goes by, I realize that those stories I heard from someone long ago are not unrelated to my life. Therefore, I believe that from things that have stood the test of time, we can gain wisdom for our future. In this way, the past and the future are connected
I believe that humans and times must live by imagining an uncertain future based on ancient wisdom. In this work, thread appears as a fuel that can connect eras and human life, and breathe new life into the old. I broke and pierced functional jars and bowls to create spaces where they could harmonize with the thread.
Based on the traditional technique of making moon jars, I create a space between two bowls and connect them with thread. Filling and linking the empty spaces of the ceramics with thread signifies the connection of different eras and different existences. Through this connection, something new emerges from the unfamiliarity and harmony between them.
Just as the sound of a choir singing alongside an orchestra playing in different ranges resonates deeply within us, I want this exhibition to convey the resonance created by the combination of 'ceramics' and 'thread,' which exist in different ranges.
